Cosmo - Building Health Confidence
Brief
SR were invited by Wolff Olins to collaborate on the rebrand of Cosmo. The brief was to bring the newly repositioned brand to life through a launch film that was both informative and visually compelling. With a focus on the emotional and personal aspects of health, the film needed to clearly reinforce the brand ethos: “building health confidence.”
In addition, we developed four distinct visual identities representing Cosmo’s key business areas—Derma, CDMO, MedTech, and Gastro—and later an additional asset for Digital Health. The challenge was to create abstract yet meaningful visual systems that express Cosmo’s expertise, while functioning as robust, ownable assets within the wider brand system, and sometimes within difficult subject areas.
Insight
Cosmo’s brand purpose centers on empowering patients, healthcare professionals, and partners with life-changing confidence by innovating at the intersection of science and technology.
The work needed to balance a sense of structured innovation and breakthrough technology with a calm, informative tone appropriate for a pharmaceutical audience.
Solution
As a pharmaceutical brand, the film needed to feel both inspiring and precise—combining clean motion graphics with 3D elements to construct key sequences, while carefully curated stock footage helped establish the appropriate tone. We worked to ensure the outcomes embodied the client’s core values of authority and innovation, while remaining approachable and human.
This extended into the visual identities for each business area, focusing on simplifying complex subjects with clarity, humanity, and warmth—while maintaining precision, intelligence, and control. Each system was carefully crafted to feel distinct yet part of a collection, unified through consistent pacing, camera treatment, lighting, and overall tone.
Despite the complexity and interpretive nature of the brief, the final assets successfully captured the essence of each department, providing Cosmo with a cohesive and flexible suite of launch materials.
Role
SR was responsible for the full film execution in collaboration with the team at Wolff Olins, refining edits to ensure alignment with messaging. We also developed the art direction for the visual identities, from early concepting and reference gathering through to final animation delivery.
